UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man Challenge Badge

UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man is all about keeping our Island a special place to live, work and visit.

Conservation

Taking care not only of nature and wildlife, but also our culture, heritage and communities. Specific initiatives range from marine conservation to safeguarding our flora and fauna to enhancing urban spaces.

Development

Maintaining and improving our infrastructure and economy in ways that respect and support our amazing environment. Introducing energy-saving measures, supporting local produce and minimising waste are just three examples.

Learning

Helping more people to understand what makes the Island so special and encouraging active involvement in keeping it that way. This will see a whole range of projects being highlighted and shared through education and community networks.

To gain a Unesco Biosphere Badge you must choose two GOALS to explore (the GOALS are below and can be found at www.globalgoals.org) Although the GOAL titles can seem off-putting please investigate the themes and meanings behind them, for example you could work with the food Bank for Goal 2, do a Beach Clean for Goal 14, plant some trees for Goal 15 and remember we are a ‘Girl-Led organisation’ – Goal 5!

The challenge is for all ages and Sections – Badges can be obtained by emailing your evidence of completion of the GOALS to ggaiomtraining, the badges are kindly supplied by UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man and are free for participants to claim.
