Welcome to Guiding – Section Training

How to deliver an interesting and relevant programme for new leaders and
leaders changing section or role. Working with leaders from your own section; the 5 essentials in practice, girl led guiding, programme resources.

Young Leader Qualification

The Young Leader Qualification is open to all members of the Senior Section aged 14 – 18
who are working with Rainbows, Brownies or Guides.

The YLQ looks great on applications and CV’s. It provides evidence of planning,
commitment and leadership skills.

Adult Leadership Qualification

To become a leader you need to gain your Leadership Qualification working in the Unit
with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Senior Section.

The Leadership Qualification should take about 6 months to complete.

If you are a Young Leader aged 16, you can start working on the Leadership Qualification
but will not become a leader until you are 18.


Consider using e-learning as it is an ideal way to learn flexibly and expand your
knowledge of guiding at a time that suits you.
